CLIMATE


Tanzania experiences large regional variations in climate but it is too close to the equator to have recognizable changes in season. Coastal regions are hot and humid with little drop in evening temperatures. However, the interior is generally warm and dry during the day and slightly chilly in the evenings and early mornings.


COMMUNICATION SEVICE

While most lodges in Tanzania do not have telephones, messages can be transmitted via radio through the Arusha office. (Twin tours and safaris Ltd.) have installed their own radio transmitter.



MEDICAL CARE

The flying doctor society offers emergency treatment and air ambulance service in the event of serious accident or illness while on safari. It is strongly advisable to apply for temporary membership at the current cost $35 (USD) for one month.



TRAVELS DOCUMENTS

Travelers are required to have a valid passport (at least 6 months after expected return form Africa). Visas should be obtained in advance (no more than 3 months prior to departure) from the Tanzanian embassy in your country. Visitors from the commonwealth and specified countries are not required to obtain entry visas.



HEALTH

Safari participants should be in good health and must be vaccinated against yellow fever at least ten (10) days prior to arriving Tanzania . Travelers are required to present a signed vaccination certificate as a proof of Inoculation. Anti-malaria medication is advised and is available form your physician. It is strongly advised to consult your doctor for additional information and health precautions.



PHOTOGRAPHY

It is recommended to bring large qualities of film to take advantage of the countless photo opportunities available on Safari.

Since films and batteries can not easily be obtained in Tanzania, travelers are strongly advised to bring more than they anticipate needing. Bring extra batteries especially for Video recorders.


 SHOPPING

Out door African markets, numerous small merchant shops, as well as tribal road side vendors offer shopping opportunities to travelers wishing to purchased souvenirs wood carryings, tribal ornaments and spears batiks, leather articles, handwork baskets and bags tie and dyed articles and Tanzanite, a semi-precious stone are among the most popular souvenir finds. BARGAINING is acceptable.



PACKING

Since efficient laundry services are available travelers are urged to pack lightly. Because of dusty conditions on Safari, neutral colors are most practical; temperature variation warrant layer able clothing for maximum comfort. Also you should bring comfortable walking shoes, personal toiletries sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat sun block and insect repellent. Depending on time of arrival raincoats and lightweight jacket are advisable. Travelers visiting Ngorongoro should pack for cooler high altitude temperatures.
